Cleaning
Polyaspartic floor care and cleaning garage floors is a process that can be completed relatively quickly, but it’s important to take the time to do it properly in order to achieve the best results. These floors are easy to care for, just be sure to follow the guidelines below.
Because our system soaks into and bonds with the concrete, Slide-Lok’s garage floor coating system is very easy to clean and care for. For normal cleaning, a simple sweep with an ordinary household broom will suffice. When extra cleaning is needed, simply hose down the floor, and using a single or double edge squeegee remove excess water.
Be sure to note:
In the event you desire to clean up food spills, pet litter or excessive amounts of dirt stains, it is best NOT to use bleach or a citrus or ammonia based detergent. These detergents require good rinsing in order not to leave chemical residue on the floor that can dull or harm the floor with sufficient exposure. A mild biodegradable household cleaner is recommended instead.
In the event that other types of stains accumulate over a period of time such as water leaking from pipes, water heaters, or conditioners, or wall leakage that leaves mineral deposits then a diluted solution of trisodium phosphate (TSP) can be used to help remove the mineral stains. Again, thoroughly rinse afterward.
Special Polyaspartic Floor Care
Most household chemicals will not damage Slide-Lok’s flooring system.
Special attention however needs to be given in the event the following chemicals are spilled on your floor:
- Battery acid
- Brake fluid
- Some types of windshield washer
In the event of a spill, simply wipe up the chemical with a dry cloth as quickly as possible, taking care not to get the chemical on your skin or in your eyes. In the event battery acid is spilled on the floor, we recommend applying baking soda to neutralize the acid.
Brake fluid and some types of windshield washer, if left on the floor for more than a few hours, may dull the finish of your floor.
Following these simple instructions should give your floor coating system years of service and keep your floor looking new. In the event of any damage to your Slide-Lok floor coating system, please contact Colorado Springs Garage Floors for support.
