Professional Diamond Bit Concrete Grinding

At Colorado Springs Garage Floors, we treat concrete preparation as an exact science. We don't use hardware-store sanders or harmful acids. We use industrial-grade, diamond-bit grinders to mechanically open the concrete's surface, ensuring your new coating achieves a permanent, lifetime bond.

See Our Tech in Action

Our latest high-power grinder allows us to strip away failed coatings, glue, and stains faster and more effectively than ever before. This ensures a clean slate for your new 3-coat polyaspartic system.

  • ✔️ Removes failed epoxy & thin-set
  • ✔️ Smooths out surface irregularities
  • ✔️ Creates the perfect bonding profile

Diamond Grinding vs. Acid Etching

Many contractors use acid etching because it is cheap and fast, but it often fails to open concrete pores correctly. Mechanical grinding is the only way to guarantee a permanent bond.

Feature Diamond Bit Grinding Acid Etching
Bond Strength ✔️ Permanent (Mechanical) ❌ Variable (Chemical Only)
Removes Old Coatings ✔️ Yes ❌ No
Dust Control ✔️ 99% (Vacuum Contained) ❌ No (Wet/Messy Slurry)
Safe Process ✔️ Yes (Dry) ❌ No (Harmful Runoff)
Profile (CSP) ✔️ Consistent ❌ Blotchy and uneven

⚠️ Dealing with a "Failed" Floor?

If your current floor has a peeling DIY epoxy, old carpet glue, or deep oil stains, we don't just cover it up. We use heavy-duty diamond grinders to reveal the fresh, healthy slab underneath.

We specialize in removing:

  • Failed DIY Epoxy
  • Black Mastic / Glue
  • Old Stain & Paint
  • Tile Mortar
  • Deep Oil Saturation
  • "Dusting" Layers

Our Grinding & Prep Workflow

A systematic approach to ensuring your floor lasts a lifetime.

1

Mechanical Grinding

Our 2-man crews utilize diamond-bit grinders to strip away contaminants and open the concrete pores.

2

Dust Extraction

Industrial HEPA vacuums run simultaneously to capture 99% of dust at the point of contact.

3

Crack & Divot Repair

Once the floor is "clean," we fill all cracks and pits to ensure a perfectly smooth profile.

4

Final Vacuum & Inspect

A final, high-powered vacuum pass ensures zero debris remains before we move to the coating phase.

Concrete Grinding: Common Questions

Why is concrete grinding necessary before a coating?

Grinding is the only way to achieve a proper Concrete Surface Profile (CSP). It mechanically opens the concrete's pores and removes weak "laitance" or contaminants. This allows our polyaspartic systems to penetrate the slab and create a "root-like" bond that will never peel or delaminate.

Does grinding create a mess in my home or business?

No. We utilize industrial-strength, HEPA-filtered dust extraction systems connected directly to our grinders. This captures 99.9% of the concrete dust at the source, ensuring your air quality and surrounding property remain clean throughout the process.

I have brand-new concrete. Do you still have to grind it?

Yes. New concrete often has a smooth, "troweled" finish and a layer of surface dust called laitance. Without diamond-bit grinding to open those pores, any coating you apply will simply sit on the surface and eventually fail. Grinding is the "insurance policy" for your investment.

Can you remove old carpet glue, thin-set, or failed epoxy?

Absolutely. Our high-torque diamond grinders are designed to strip away failed DIY kits, black mastic, carpet glues, and tile thin-set. We take the floor back to a clean, "virgin" concrete state, providing the perfect foundation for a new finish.

Will grinding level out my uneven floor?

While grinding smooths the surface and can remove minor "high spots" or ridges, it is not a leveling service. Our grinders follow the existing contour of your slab. If your floor has significant drainage issues or deep "dips," we can recommend specialized leveling solutions prior to our prep work.
